Tea Knowledge
Understanding Ginseng Oolong tea
What is Ginseng Oolong Tea?
Ginseng Oolong Tea is made from stemless oolong tea leaves (like Tieguanyin ), originating from the Fujian province of China. The tea leaves are processed in the traditional way, shaped into small round tea balls, then infused with osmanthus flowers to absorb the fragrance of the flower. After infusing the flowers, the tea is dried and mixed with a mixture of ground ginseng powder, licorice and some other herbs, to enhance the flavor and medicinal properties of the tea.
The original Ginseng Oolong Tea originated from Taiwan, but nowadays, many people use oolong tea from mainland China for blending.

Flavor of Ginseng Oolong Tea: sweet, rich aroma
Because it is coated with a layer of ginseng and licorice powder, Ginseng Oolong Tea when brewed has a sweet taste right from the first sip, followed by a slight astringency. The blend of oolong and ginseng creates a gentle aroma and a sweet taste with a hint of bitterness.
Ginseng Oolong Tea is a premium oolong tea. It is popular for its sweet taste and the very sweet aroma of magnolia flowers. That is also the reason why Ginseng Oolong Tea is often chosen as a gift for the elderly, women, or people who are not used to the bitter taste of tea…

How to make Ginseng Oolong Tea
Ginseng Oolong Tea is round and firm, so when brewing tea, it needs water with high temperature so that the tea can expand. The ideal temperature for brewing tea is around 95-97 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too low, the tea will not expand, the tea will taste bland and tasteless.
How to make Ginseng Oolong Tea
Step 1: Heat the teapot
- Pour boiling water to heat the entire teapot, then pour this water away.
Step 2: Make tea
- Add tea to the teapot. The amount of tea is about 5-8g or 1/5-1/6 of the teapot depending on your taste. You can increase or decrease the amount of tea for the next time to find the most suitable amount of tea for you.
- Pour water into the kettle, about 150-200ml.
- Steep the tea for 20-25 seconds. Then pour all the tea in the pot into cups or saucers.
- After pouring all the tea, you should open the lid of the pot to let the tea leaves cool down. When you want to drink the next time, add more water.
Step 3: Enjoy tea
- Your tea is ready. Now enjoy your tea.

Some notes to make better Ginseng Oolong tea
Try to keep the steeping time between 20-25 seconds. Don’t worry if the tea isn’t too strong, this is normal for the first brew. After 2-3 brews, the tea leaves will “wake up” and start to produce a darker brown tea. At this point, keep the steeping time under 20 seconds to avoid making the tea bitter. After 3-4 subsequent brews, as the tea’s strength decreases, you can gradually increase the steeping time to maintain the desired strength.
- Add more tea if you want it stronger, but don’t steep it longer.
- When making tea, if you want the tea to be clear and beautiful, you should pour water into the pot very gently, avoiding stirring the tea leaves in the pot. When pouring tea, you should also pour gently, the tea will be very clear and beautiful.
- To easily observe and control the quality of tea, you should brew tea in a glass or ceramic teapot . These are two materials that honestly reflect the quality of tea, are easy to clean, do not retain odors, and can be used to brew many different types of tea.

Tips for enjoying Ginseng Oolong Tea
- Do not steep oolong tea for too long . Oolong tea is a semi-fermented tea and still contains many of the same polyphenols, alkaloids, and other nutrients as green tea. If you drink it too strong, these nutrients can irritate your stomach or dilute your stomach acid, causing digestive problems or stomach pain. For those who are used to drinking green tea, drinking strong tea is fine.
- If you brew the tea with hot water, drink it while it is still hot. We recommend that you drink all of your brewed oolong tea within 60-90 minutes . If the tea is left for too long, similar to green tea, it will oxidize and lose its nutrients.
- If you want to drink your tea cold, use cold water to brew it. This process will take about 20-90 minutes. When the tea turns green and brown, it is ready to enjoy.
- We recommend drinking oolong tea about 30-60 minutes after meals . Drinking tea too soon after meals will cause a reaction with nutrients in food, especially iron and protein.

Catrin Everitt –
One of the most beautifully favoured teas I have tasted, soft and smooth with barely a hint of astringency. This fully rounded, rich, Oolong delights the pallet and leaves a lingering tang of liquorice, very satisfying.
Alex –
Once my friend has been travelling around the world. He asked me “Which one gift would you want?”. I replied: “Bring me the most delicious, soft and flavour rich of tea you will face”. When he came back, he gifted me this one box of tea. After tasting, I was surprised. I lost my mind from flavour. Now, I’m writing this one review and regret that this tea is ending. Unfortunately, I don’t have opportunity to ship the order to my country if I order it.
So, friends, I kindly recommend this tea to be bought and taste.
Cheers
